Filicudi Sicily sailing vacation

A Unique landscape
Filicudi has a unique landscape, a stop due for any sailing holiday to the Aeolian Islands. Paths and terraces, built over the centuries, are a wonderful and impressive example of human labour. Even today Filicudi is perceived as a remote island, by the inhabitants of the other islands.

Only 300 inhabitant
The island is wild because it has a few houses, only about 300 people living there, little or nothing is grown, and is full of gorse, prickly pears, lemons, a set that gives it a barren and wild aspect.

Feel the distance
As a matter of fact, what makes her feel far away, is not so much the distance but something deeper: it is a distance in time, in the way of being of the island and its people, it is the distance from the common world. Filicudi is not just a beach or a summer vacation.

Enjoy the explosion of colors
Those who really want to feel and enjoy its peculiarity must visit the inlands, especially during the time of year that runs from April to June and from September to November.

“Bue Marino” Grotto
Immersing yourself in the crystal clear sea of Filicudi will be a different experience, together with discovering caves, ravines and sea beds of incomparable beauty. To visit the ‘Grotta del Bue Marino’ is a must by sea. This is a 30 m wide cave, so called by the old fishermen because, perhaps, monk seals found refuge here.

Filicudi sailing holidays: La Canna
The sea here, over time, has formed a lovely beach on the sea bed, and the breadth and depth to allow vessels to enter it. Not far away in the middle of the sea, the highest rock of volcanic origin stands called ‘La Canna’ due to its shape.

Spot diving occasion
There are also many coves and bays, full of ravines where the crystal clear water offers depths of rare beauty, offering the occasional diver the opportunity to admire this spectacle of nature and marine life without the need for deep sea diving.
